Final testing before Formula One calendar begins

With the start of the new Formula One season just weeks away, the second day of testing took place on Saturday 22nd February. In these early stages, Mercedes are leading the way with a clear margin between them and their nearest competitors.

Nico Rosberg recorded the fastest lap of 1m 33.283 which was over 1.5s quicker than that of nearest rival, McLaren’s Jenson Button. Finishing in third position was Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen followed by F1 debutant Felipe Nasr.

Nasr commented: “There were so many things going through my head before sitting in the car. It was what I was expecting though: very different to any other car I have ever driven with the amount of downforce, brake efficiency and the power. I'm so pleased to have had this opportunity and I am now looking forward to the next time.”

Johnny is looking forward to the start of the season with each team working hard to ensure they put themselves in a strong position.

The final pre-season test will take place over four days from February 27-March 2. The first race of the season is the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne which will take place 14-16 March 2014.
