Johnny Herbert


Johnny Herbert has enjoyed an illustrious career in motorsports, having raced for seven different teams in Formula One. A career that spanned 11 years, Johnny was able to secure three wins, seven podiums and 98 career points during his tenure in Formula One. Having also worked as a television announcer for Sky Sports F1, Johnny is now hired for events across the globe to share his expertise on motorsports and his career as a renowned Formula 1 driver.

Back in 1974, Johnny entered the world of motorsport when he began racing karts aged 10. It was immediately evident that Johnny had raw talent for racing, and in 1978 he became the British Junior Karting Champion. Proving his worth as a talented racer, Johnny moved through the ranks to race in Formula Three, also competing in and winning the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch. Capturing the attention of Eddie Jordan, Johnny was snapped up for his team, and he went on to win the 1987 series of British Formula 3.

Propelled into the world of F1, Johnny raced in the 1989 series of F1 for the Benetton team. He later raced for Tyrrell, Lotus, Ligier, Sauber, Stewart and Jaguar F1 teams – winning the 1995 British Grand Prix, 1995 Italian Grand Prix and 1999 European Grand Prix. Throughout the duration of his career in F1, Johnny raced against some of the sport’s greatest drivers, from Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill to Nigel Mansell. Leaving Formula 1 in the 2000s, Johnny went on to focus on sports car racing. In 2004, Johnny won the Le Mans Series driving an Audi R8, and in 2005 he was appointed as the Sporting Relations Manager of Jordan Grand Prix. In 2008 he won the Speedcar Series, and in 2009 Johnny made his debut racing in the British Touring Car Championship. Johnny was also a competitor in International Formula 3000, Japanese Formula 3000, 24 Hours of Le Mans, American Le Mans Series, IndyCar, Indianapolis 500 and the International Superstars Series.

Aside from competitive motorsports, Johnny has also enjoyed sharing his expertise as a pundit. From 2012 to 2022, Johnny contributed his perspective as a former F1 driver in his role as a Contributor to Sky Sports F1. In 2013 and 2014, Johnny was also part of the ITV4 series GT Academy, in which he trained six contestants who were players of the Gran Turismo videogame to race in the Dubai 24 Hour Race. Today, Johnny is highly sought after as a keynote or after dinner speaker for events, hired to share his expertise on the world of motorsports and F1.

Working with Champions Speakers, Johnny has secured jobs with the likes of Watches of Switzerland, Betway Group and Pace Group to name but a few. Johnny’s work as a keynote speaker has seen him provide Watches of Switzerland with 21 speeches to their top clients in London, and two speaking engagements in South Africa for the Pace Group on iconic moments from his career and the history of F1.
